I am Anna J. Frandsen, a social documentary photographer, writer, and PhD researcher focused on women’s resilience to trauma across diverse cultural contexts. My work documents the lived experiences of women who have survived violence, discrimination, and structural inequity, centering the strength and agency they demonstrate in the face of profound adversity.

Faces of Resilience is part of my doctoral research, which I conduct through fieldwork in different countries, combining qualitative interviews, portraiture, and observational documentation. This work informs my broader initiative, Bridges of Resilience, a global platform aimed at strengthening trauma recovery support for women in underserved communities.

Through visual documentation and research, I hope to contribute knowledge that improves how trauma is understood, supported, and addressed worldwide.
