Faces of Resilience
Global Stories of Women's Trauma and Recovery
Faces of Resilience is a global documentary and research project that documents the lived experiences of women in different cultural contexts across the world. Through portraiture, field observation, and interviews, the project explores how women confront and overcome trauma shaped by gender violence, cultural norms, and systemic inequities.

Rather than focusing only on harm, Faces of Resilience centers women’s agency and the many forms of strength that emerge from severe adversity. Each portrait is part of a larger research effort to understand how resilience is built, sustained, and expressed in cultures with limited access to formal support systems.
The project seeks to expand understanding of gender-based trauma, elevate culturally specific pathways of recovery, and contribute knowledge that strengthens local and global efforts to support women. By sharing these stories, Faces of Resilience offers insight for communities, practitioners, and institutions committed to improving the lives of women worldwide.
